October 21

Dear Voyage Followers, I am home in Florida and 3/4 unpacked and resettled, so I guess it is time to end this segment of my life's voyage; Coming home has it's challenges, but it is working, inch by inch. In some ways it is good to be back--in other ways, sad. I shall miss the journey, the friends old and new, and getting to know my relatives better. As beautiful and as wonderful this country is, the most special part of my trip was the personal connections, and the memories of each one. I can't really explain what was so special about the voyage, or why I am missing it so much. Back home, I am enjoying reconnecting with my friends here, (and all my doctors and other practitioners). I am healthy though often light-headed. I think I need structure--too much "nothing" in my life. I love reading and tending my little garden, but once I am settled I will need more. It is my intention to continue writing weekly, perhaps for my own sake, but welcome readers who wish to...

October 15

Hooray! I made it! I arrived yesterday about 8:30 AM, having woken at 5AM. It is good to be back and have already connected with Kristi and Harley and begun the unpacking process.  Soon it is time to go to church and reconnect with my UU friends. This is short, but I shall write my epilog soon. Sending love, Alia

My second night in Quality Inn. It is very nice (once you find it way off the road) with a hot breakfast).  The trees were lovely, but now mostly greens, which are lovely too.  I am excited to be returning "home", though it is still hard to see it as home, what with crazy traffic and drivers, and politics. And I will miss the big trees. I will also miss the driving through walls of stone, sands of many colors, and especially the adventure of it all. I already miss all my family and friends with whom I visited......now all far away. I am now officially ani elder, though not necessarily wise, as I watch my peers getting older and diminishing in health and abilities and even leaving planet earth. When each one leaves, they take a small piece of me with them.  There is also the great sadness for the hate and war and death and hunger--so much and we do not seem to be able to stop it. That ,is so very sad, yet we keep going, keep loving, and keep treasuring the beauty and...

October 11 (I think)

Homeward bound!!!! I am all organized and packed and ready to start home--just quick stops for $ and gas and I will be on my way.  I am so grateful to Sukey and family for sharing their home in October, and all my dear women friends in Vermont for making time for me, and homes also, and fun! There have been beautiful trees, but the all-over color has not happened this year. However, travelling south I may see many more.  Today I shall reach Harrisburg PA before dark. I am so grateful for all of you who read this and all those I have met or with whom I have visited.  A request--Would those of you who read my blog send me an email so I can know who you are and thank you and respond to you? aliastarkweather@yahoo.com Love and hugs, Alia

October 7

Hello again dear people. I have been in Vermont 3+ days, visiting Jean and Tom and meeting others from my women's group, heading soon for Carol C's and then lunch with Mike and then to Mary B,s--such a lovely reunion with everyone. The weather has been beautiful and warm, now cloudy but still warm and the leaves are beautiful. I want to pick them up and keep them forever; all combos of red, yellow and green. Perhaps I can share one. Seeing Burlington and Lake Champlain has been special, and last night in a dream I swam in warm water in MA. So real, so good. Being with friends is wonderful. Somehow in my discombobulation of leaving Sukey's in MA, I managed to leave 2 important boxes of stuff I should have with me, but I just manage without it and will get them soon. Jean just helped me with directions and maps, so I am ready to go.  Blessings and love to you all, Alia

11/21/23

It has been a long time since I wrote in my blog. I have been in MA for almost 3 weeks!!!  The time has been spent in chilling out, going to 2 movies, (Barbie and Jules), seeing family, (Jon, Angie, Jack, Karuna 3 times, Sarah, John), and several dear friends and 2 music groups, while staying with my alternative family in Amherst. I am enjoying cooking, reading and some TV, as well as getting my car checked out and fixed for my trips to VT and then my return to Florida the middle of October. I am so grateful to Sukey and Rhett and Ellen, who have made my stay here so blessed, and for all the friends and family who have made time to see me. I also have much gratitude for all those who hosted and helped me on my 10.000 mile trip and who will be helping me for the next 2,000 miles until I get home to Florida. I send love to each of you.
