Day 8

 What a journey! For 2 days I have been travelling through Native American lands. Hundreds of miles of beautiful country. After the fabulous Rockies, it has been flat to hilly land of wonderful rock formations  beyond belief--so many questions I have, and no one to ask except my computer. Miles with no cities, no towns--just semi desert country. 

Chimney Rock was an unplanned stop. First the drive to the monument was miles of absolute peace. Then another drive to the visitors' center. Obama had declared it a National Monument--thank you Barrack! Most of the National sites were declared many years ago--mostly by Teddy Roosevelt inspired by John Muir, the same man who inspired this journey for me. Pueblos lived there for many years, far from the lowlands water sources, 

Then I went to Mesa Verde, another amazing place but I was too tired to do much except be grateful. 

Then to Four Corners--I have pictures. All Navaho country now. I spent the night in a Navaho Mall, this time not disturbed by police as I had been the night before at Burger King. I now know better.

For those of you who worry, I have felt always safe.

 Dear Voyage Followers, I am home in Florida and 3/4 unpacked and resettled, so I guess it is time to end this segment of my life's voyage; Coming home has it's challenges, but it is working, inch by inch. In some ways it is good to be back--in other ways, sad. I shall miss the journey, the friends old and new, and getting to know my relatives better. As beautiful and as wonderful this country is, the most special part of my trip was the personal connections, and the memories of each one. I can't really explain what was so special about the voyage, or why I am missing it so much. Back home, I am enjoying reconnecting with my friends here, (and all my doctors and other practitioners). I am healthy though often light-headed. I think I need structure--too much "nothing" in my life. I love reading and tending my little garden, but once I am settled I will need more. July 24

 At last I can write more--It has been a very long time!  I am now at Mackensie Bridge Oregon attending a Village Harmony singing camp for a week. The last week I spent in a campground near by, with trees over 100 feet tall--maybe even 150, since I paced one and got to where the tree had fallen across a road and was cut short at over 100 feet. It had the Mackensie river running through it, with most campers carrying kayaks and rafts--no one invited me to join them! I have realized that campgrounds are the most difficult because almost everyone is part of a couple, a family or close friends, so I miss my community more. When I drive or sleep in my car I do not feel so alone. Now I have many new friends, and received an offer to go to Washington State and have a free place to stay--maybe I will! The Pacific Ocean was beautiful, but cold for me, so I did not stay too long. I loved Crater Lake, where I took the trolley tour--a very good way to see it without driving!!! Then I had ...
